A poem.
By Rob Berg

Here as I sit
Contemplating this task.
I know nothing of poetry
So I'll yank from my ass.

Hey look at that!
The first bit's complete
There's even rhyming and swearing
That's actually quite neat.

WICKED, two parts are done
And now for the third
HA! How convenient is that?
Third rhymes with turd.

Wow, this cool!
Who knew I was a poet?
Mind you this shit ain't done yet
There's still time to blow it.

Perhaps a theme is needed?
Some kind of cool hook
Perhaps some imagery will help
I'll go have a look

Hmmm... a drawing might work
Or is that kinda cheating?
Bah - this contest is for poems!
I'm just used to bleating

This is beautiful in a sense, as it reads like you actually wrote it out as it all happened to you. And who knows, maybe you did. It's elementary, to be sure, but it succeeds in setting the reader right down next to the speaker as he/she is wrestling with The Poetic and putting up a good fight.

The speaker's victories are our victories. The speaker's disappointments are our disappointments.

It's like I'm looking at the creative process through another's eyes, and finding out it looks exactly the same as it does through my two big browns. Humans, aren't we all?

Did you give me a +2 yet?

I don't recall.

This really does need more attention.

Although I totally think Merlina cranked out a much better poem.

I am breaking my normal -2 poetry rule.

For this

"Bah - this contest is for poems!
I'm just used to bleating"

But it is still poetry, so -1.

I enjoyed the awfulness of this. It is slightly better than the awfulness of FoolProof and TheDrake because of the self portrait.

Hello? Yes? Oh! Heh, heh, uh ... if you're looking for that big donut
of yours ... um, Flanders has it. Just smash open his house. (Closing
the door.) He came to life. Good for him.
