There are certain times in life when everything falls into place. Home, girls, work, friends, and sports. In no particular order, of course.
After 2 years of hating life, living in NJ, having few close friends close by, living with shitty roommates, and dating annoying stupid girls, doing the exact opposite is a real nice change.
I'm currently living with two girls who I'd consider friends. While it's pretty strange to get used to living with girls, it's neither as bad, nor as good, as it could be. What I mean is there's little to no typical girl-drama, but there's exactly zero nudity or relations. Which isn't that bad, considering the following:
It's true: when it rains it pours. In this particular situation, I mean when you meet an awesome girl you typically meet multiple awesome girls in the same brief time frame. It started out about a month ago. It was your typical friend-of-a-friend meeting, met this cute, skinny-with-a-rack girl at my friend's party, we hit it off, and hung out a few times over the next few weeks. Back to back vacations (first mine, then hers) led to about two weeks of little contact other than the occasional text or call to say hi.
(Regarding the vacation, I went down to texas to visit some friends and catch a few Sox-Rangers games. Solid time. Hung out in houston for a night, yet didn't run into Texas' favorite brit, apollo. Played some of the best golf of my life. Places have a tendency to have things fall into them, they say. Indeed.)
This past week/weekend was epic. Had free 5th row seats for the Dice-K/Hernandez pitching duel on wednesday. Hung out with some friends from high school at the miserable Celts game on Friday, where we managed to snake-move our way into a luxury box. Did work stuff saturday afternoon, with one of my all-time legendary dream girls who I haven't seen in a year. And of course by "work stuff" I mean doing 20 minutes of work stuff and then spending the rest of the afternoon and evening letting loose in our favorite hang out on the corporate tab.
Sunday afternoon was spent being hungover at the gym, then the batting cages. Sunday night was spent at my favorite dive bar with a bunch of close friends, at a random underground punk rock show (The Freeze. Pretty solid show), and at the same favorite hang out from saturday. Which, coincidently, just got a Big Buck Hunter Pro machine, which happens to be on of my passions in life. After dropping countless 5s into the machine, I was approached by a suprisingly attractive girl who was legitimately interested in the game. We talked for a while, hit it off, then exchanged numbers. Planned on going out later this week.
Marathon Monday was epic. I was woken up at 830am by a phonecall from a buddy who had scored some free sox tickets. Third row seats, about 20 seats closer to third base than the guy who got hit with the pizza. Of course, that was preceeded by some pregame morning beers and BBHP at Billiards. After the game, I headed up to the north end to meet up with some other friends. And that's where the story gets interesting.
It was your classic friend of a friend of a friend meeting. It was my buddy's fiance's cousin's friend. She was cute, I was sober, and we hit it off. It's rare that you find the combination of hot, cute, PhD-smart, not crazy, AND fun. And she has the exact same personality as me. You know how I like to senselessly debate arbitrary topics with stupid people ad nauseum? Her too. You know how I'm kind of a giant booze bag? Her too. My favorite restaurant in the universe is a brewpub? Hers too. And I like to think I'm mostly a nice person with a tendency to bust balls a little too frequently. Her too.
We hung out with our friends for a while, then headed to our favorite food spot, had some dinner, and then I walked her home.
I know it's stupid of me to blow off the other two awesome girls with potential that I just met. But I did. This one is just on a wholly different level. I like her. She likes me. I can't wait to see her tomorrow.
Things just fall into place.
Work's incredible. It's truly my dream job, and I'm truly excelling at it. And I truly love what I do. 37.5 hour work weeks. Solid raise after just 7 months. Implications of management within 2 years. Paying for grad school. (Just got accepted into a prestegious MS of mechanical engineering program. Will be done in 2 years. Then it's MBA. Then it's CEO.)
I'm in the process of buying my first house. Its kind of a pain in the ass, but its exciting. I'll have a garage, which means I'll be able to be reuinited with my last love, the G35 coupe.
I'm playing hockey twice a week in a sweet league with a few other friends. I'm losing weight. Running 3 times a week at lunch. And I got a new haircut. I was tired of covering my thinning hair with my receeding hair, so I decided to take it to the skin. I have a nicely shaped head. It looks good. I was finally able to get a fitted sox hat in my size. (8 1/4)
Life is good. I'm happy.

I'm seeing the A's in Oakland on both July 4 and July 8.
I could probably squeeze a few more ballgames in if I wasn't going to be spending the rest of my time in the Bay101 playing cards.

Glad you are on the up swing.
Talking about death...two weeks ago I went into anaphylactic shock from an allergic reaction to meds. I always knew I was allergic to bees, but not sulfa. Talk about fricking scary. Two times in the ER...foggy as crap for 10 days, 14 shots and two IV's later...I never want to take another med again. The kicker was, this was my spring break.

By the end of the year, I'll be running a mixed martial arts school full time. I'm so happy it's ridiculous.

I don't know if it's the same band - doubtful - but there was a "The Freeze" around the scene more than 20 years ago.
Who cares who they were...as long as they could play and they rocked.
I'm more jealous of all the ballgames. Oh, and the broads.
My first baseball fix for the year will probably have to wait until early July when we go to the Napa Valley...The A's are home the entire week so we'll hit Oakland for at least a couple of games.

good on you. i'm still waiting for the summer to leave Chicago and move down to Tampa. i'm hoping things will change for me too. Chicago isn't my kind of place. it never was, but i had to try it out. i've been wandering around for the past 7 years and i'll probably do it the rest of my life.
i really miss having routine in my life. all i do is travel for work and it's getting old. after going to Baghdad for a year, i'm going to Afghanistan next month and i hope to never go back to either after that. i want to stop traveling altogether.
i'll try Florida for a while, but i may move to Boston after that. we'll see how things go.

i have kind of a lonely life and my health is suffering immensely from my job. i barely see my friends and family. i am on ephedra constantly to keep myself going when i work 100 hours a week two to three weeks out of the month. i am in the worst shape of my life and my body is rebelling for being treated so badly.
if things go as planned, i will be living a mile from the beach and i plan on getting some sun and getting back in shape. maybe i'll meet some cool people there. life will be good again. it just takes some time and patience and a good attitude.

Cool. I'm about to be a Daddy. Its gonna be a boy. His mother went into labor last night (or earlier this afternoon for you guys in the states) and he should be born sometime within the next 12 hours or so. Im geeked as hell, but it tears me up that I'm on the other side of the world when it happens.
But for the most part, life is good.

There's always shit before the cream. I spent a year sleeping on the floor of a shitty unit, working a shitter job to pay for a shit school and shit car. But now I have a sweet car, great job, and own my own home. Chin up.

quit crying you chubby blubbering fuck. (Love you in stewy griffen voice).
haha.
Nah life takes you for a whirl. I have had a very not eventful and very eventful past 2 years. I moved out on my own. Worked a cool job, fucked up my knee, broke up with two girlfriends, had a couple highschool friends come visit, picked school over athletics (hard thing to do. Still going to try though). Saw my future dashed and rerisen, finally picked a major that makes sense, got accepted into alot of schools, found out couldn't afford aforementioned schools, studied harder, got better grades hope to go to a great school. And All I want is to have a few beers with my bro's, find a new girl to hug, and have a dog in a year.
Life is fucking crazy. But I wouldn't take back these last 2 years.
