now its just alters trying to fool other alters, and i cant even have a genuine fight with someone because they post some of the only decent shit being posted, and the few of the others are just caught up in the circle jerk of the admiration of a dozen people.
was this site ever really even good?
because i distinctly remember a time when i was genuinely interested, and now it just seems i look for another post by the actually funny TTOM, where he does the same thing yet again, but its so much better than everything else that i can kinda forget that its no different (and in fact not quite as good) as that stuff he did a year ago.
are you all that uninspired?
are we all that tainted by the internet that we cant do anything that hasnt been done 3 weeks previously on 4chan?

i still come to this site every workday though. i guess i just want to see if someone has posted something worth looking at. usually the front page is pretty bad, but i rate it all anyway. force of habit i guess. then i just leave the window up while i go about my work.
beyond reviewing, i've just been using the site as a library of sorts. going through back catalogues and trying to find decent stuff.
personally i had no inspiration to write for months, but lately i have been writing again. when i think about posting it here, i get a queasy feeling, so it all piles up. soon i'll have a book to try and find a future for.

I agree with most of what you said. There are still decent writers with decent work on here, though. It is sometimes hard to find with some of the crap, and most of the decent writers apparently either decide to not post on certain days(SPT, APW, GPF, whatever the bandwagon of the day is), or have actually started to post their own bandwagon crap.
Dont get me wrong, Sometimes the daily bandwagon posts are funny, just it seems that most of the actual writing gets lost.
I think that the queesy feeling in your stomach when you think about posting is the thought that some people will just -2 everything because they are petty bastards. I say post it anyways, and just forget about the crap reviews.
Unless you just want to save all the good stuff just so you can charge us $7.95, ass!!! JK.

Sadly, your average rating speaks the truth of this site. There is very little to be entertained by on this site anymore. I can't say I was ever a "good" writer on here, but at least I put effort into what I wrote. It used to be fun to me. I used to enjoy coming on here and writing, getting all sorts of responses, reading lots of good stuff... now it's all gone. Well, few and far between.
This site is proof that humans, especially Americans, are too stupid to run anything without leadership. Bart and a possible committee should start booting people who don't meet certain standards. I know that goes against the whole point, but there comes a time for "kill or be killed."

I honestly do not think i started out that way. Sure i dropped insults on shit posts, but that's the fun of uber, no one takes that personally.
When everything got personal is when i changed. i felt attacked and i lashed out in return because i couldn't understand the hate and mean coming off people i felt i hadn't wronged to deserve it.
now i guess i don't really care if people hate me or take shots at me. i mean i knew it was a big possibility that i'd get all kinds of hate if i showed up here , but that didn't seem to bother or scare me anymore
i just accept that people will be mean and i can run and hide, fight back, or blow it off.

Caul- believe it or not this is my normal personality.
Not that it matters much now, but, back then was a scary time in my life. My job future was extremely grim. Having no family to offer help, take me in if I lost my home, or help me get back on my feet if i was permantly laid off, had me consumed with almost constant dread and worry. during that time i was also transferred to a different location for 18 months that was miserable. I had to have 2 surgeries on my right hand and missed almost the whole year of 2004 during which i only received less than 400 a week( less than 50% of my normal pay).
Anyway- not a good time. i came here for laughs and intelligent convos and debates. And this site was all that for awhile. and then it became over run with the squattails and other really mean hearted people. As ridiculous as most of you think it is to let "the intraweb" get to you, I did. I let the venomous nature of some of those people get in my head.
You see, i never made a single alter, or random joe comment-not my style. I know many of you play a role here, a character so to speak- that's just not me.
I don't see the point. I probably never will understand the concept of pushing peoples buttons for kicks, but my skin is thicker and i can better tolerate that which i don't understand.
The key to peace with ubersite is, i guess, to just realize i'll never understand the motives of some and to just accept it.
_ shlonger- thanks for the shout out but no meds here. never have taken any, i don't trust them. maybe during the dark year i had full of fear and worry some xanax might have helped me relax, but alas- live and learn.
Of corse there are things i regret saying and doing here, but for real y'all i think we all have some uber embarassment in our past.
I can stay away forever or say my peace and hope the few worthwhile people still here take it as sincere.
i haven't been lurking. I do keep in touch with 2 people who always tell me that I have a legend here that won't seem to die even tho nobody has heard a boo out of me, heh.
Now that my hand is better, i'm back at my regular job site that i actually love, and we are about to sign another contract that everyone thought would hang us out to dry, but it's actually gonna give us job security, An enormous weight of years of stress and worry has been lifted. so i thought i'd drop in and make peace since i really feel at peace with my life these days.
I'm also the healthiest i've ever been in my entire life, quit smoking 2 yrs ago, went to a nutritionist and she gave me a fantastic vitamin and diet plan that has me feeling better than i did when i was a kid. I wake up feeling glad to start my day instead of feeling hungover when i don't even drink.(hmm maybe Tom Cruise is right :) )
I can only hope that others here who came here for a distraction from bad times can have things turn around so positively for them.

I really miss The_Cyst_Master's posts. Aside from that, though - if I woke up tomorrow morning and Ubersite.com was no more, I would be disappointed for about 2 minutes, and then I'd find something else to do when I get bored.
It's not as if I'm creative or a great writer; and let's face it, Ubersite has been none too fruitful for me as a social networking outlet. So I'm not feeling any great sense of loss from the passing of the "good old days."

actually method there was only a very short 'golden' patch where this site was really good. it was ages ago, and everyone seemed to be taking things quite seriously, until i think mcbain rocked onto the scene (whoever was responsible for that, probably you). youve been good for little but drama, though i recall you writing some things that were surprisingly decent, even that long ago.

This place actually went to shit when I stopped posting, and I stopped posting because of annoying people like Oathmeal and Sicosemen, so it stands to reason that if you get rid of them, this place will go back to normal, and coincidentally, dilute the alter pool to 1/10000 parts.
When you get rid of the guy who, for the love of all that is holy, pays people in fucking India to create hundreds of accounts for him, the quality should inevitably increase.

There are a few writers and otherwise humorists I enjoy continually. But I'll agree, in the short year I've been here contributing absolute tripe, it's gone downhill. A bit boring, but worth a chuckle most evenings between innings when the game is on Channel 3 and not on FoxSports so I can watch it in my office.

actually, being paid to be a writer is 'the good life', if writing is your thing. if, for you, i assume if you could be paid for making alter-ego names on a backwater site on the internet - that would be the good life for you. i am both good at and enjoy writing and being creative, and i get to wrok my own hours at whatever pace i see fit, i get to create and think of things in my own time and still get paid AND have shares in a company that is going to do moderately well.

i now write professionally, and am finisihing off a 25000 word presentation of a narrative for a mass multiplayer online game where i have literally had to create a world from the ground up.
the 25000 words is merely the outline. ive probably got another 100000 to go, let alone my possible honours thesis, and if i do well enough my phd.
