Here it is:

http://disembedded.wordpress.com/2008/01/15/tom-cruise-madness-the-tom-cruise-scientology-indoctrination-video/

Reading the comments, it appears that everyone thinks that Tom Cruise is a complete whackjob. That may or may not be true, but from what I can tell, he doesn't appear to be much different than any other fundamentalist (Christian, Muslim, Jewish) talking about their religion.

It's funny, he mostly seems to be advocating making the world a better place, and being an honest scientologist.

You know, it's funny... the Romans made fun of early Christians for worshiping a torture implement. I wonder if in 500 years all the extant religions today will be looked at the way Zeus is looked at and half the world will be scientologists. Boy, would that be funny.

The difference is that they believe in aliens flying space planes that look like DC5s or something like that, with rocket ship engines. Thats the part they lose me at.

The rest is just as believable as any of the other religions. Just the space planes part is what doesnt hold together.

In fairness, the the dude that listed all the negative things scientologists have done... you can make as bad or a worse list for any religion.

- Jeremy Perkins stabbed his mother to death 77 times. Jeremy is diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. Because of the laws of Scientology, Jeremy was not allowed to take his necessary medication.

- After a ten-year investigation, Belgian prosecutors have charged twelve members of the Church of Scientology. The accusations include fraud, extortion, illegal practice of medicine, and infringement of privacy law, among others. The decision opens the way for Scientology to be considered a criminal organization.

- On 26 Apr 2001, Keith Henson was convicted of "interfering with a religion". His crimes include typing the word "Cruise missile" referring to Tom Cruise. He's been on the run since because of death threats from Scientologists. He was picked up late Friday (2/2/07) and is now facing years in jail over this injustice.

- Greg Beha took his son to Narconon, a Scientology front group, for a drug problem. It was a 6 month program that cost Greg $23,500. 18 days into the program, Narconon dropped Greg Beha's son off at a hotel 26 miles away with $10 in his pocket and refused any kind of refund. Greg didn't know the facility that he sent his son to was a front group for Scientology but quickly learned that he was not the only one that they have stiffed.

- Scientologists, once again (for the fourth time) shut down the Scientology critic myspace account of 'TheDarksideOfScientology'. More sites have since been closed. These are not hate sites but educational pages about what is Scientology. Pro Scientology sites have been teaming up and contacting customer support to get these sites shutdown.

Yeah, nice, peaceful folks they are.

Ron Hubbard is one of the most evil, vindictive, honkeys currently outside of jail. Seriously.

Furthermore the elite at the top of the church are very much geared towards Hubbard's strategy of intimidation and paranoia. The outcome of this is a bunch of dangerously jittery bullies and thugs who're obsessed with control promoting themselves to an audience of vulnerable people.

Mark my words; 10 or 20 years from now people involved in that church are going to start telling their stories and they are going to be pretty fucking dark.

Somewhere around a year ago, apparently shit-posting and posturing became more popular than creative/serious writing...

...hence the decline in new users, and thus also in new posts.

I'd be surprised if there are ever more than 20 people on the site at peak times nowadays. I know I haven't been as active as in past years. But, I still get bored on occasion, and poke my head in a few times a week.

The reason Jews have never tried to recruit you is because they don't believe in it. The Jews have never been a missionary religion, and it's always been tied to their ethnicity. Imagine an Indian guy trying to convert a Frenchman into being "Indian".

Doesn't really work... although the Jews (not counting fundamentalists) will accept people who convert so the analogy isn't perfect.

you can't exactly compare cults with large scale religions.

yes, they're all based on fantasies but organized religions have had time to evolve through time and are not nearly as insane - in terms of actions taken, not their respective faiths - as relatively recent cults. they all contain extreme individuals, but in general, the large majority of people composing large religions are more moderate and follow a certain faith more out of tradition than beliefs than newly formed cults, which tend to attract easily manupulable people.
---
Saying they have had time to evolve, so they are safer, is like saying grandpa can't be crazy because he's old. I get what you are saying, I just don't think it's a valid point.

And religions, of any sort, actively seek out easy to manipulate people. It's what funds them, those people are it's base. Then they send them to do more recruiting. Organized religions, except maybe the jews and buddhists (they never tried to recruit me, at least), are constantly recruiting through their members.

This summer I got a call to work on a film for Golden Era Productions. They said they would pay for my food, plane ticket and housing. It sounded really awesome until I learned that Golden Era Productions was the official studio of Scientology, and I would have to live in an apartment complex with their other employees, take a bus to the heavily armed base surrounded in barbed wire where they supposedly torture organization members gone awry, and not discuss my experience working there.

Well, if I suddenly go missing or am mysteriously run down by a white truck, you'll all know why.

I think L. Ron Hubbard started Scientology after a bet he made with a fellow science fiction writer. That is, he made a bet with somebody that he could start a religion, and he did. If true, what a laugh he must have had.

Didn't watch the video. I find Cruise, crazy or not, to be a poor-to-mediocre actor and generally an uninteresting person.

Religion is such a waste of time. If there is a god, it doesn't give a damn about any of us. Considering that there are billions of planets out there with billions of living things, it seems pretty silly to think that god will care if you ate a pork chop last week.

That said, Tom Cruise is a lunatic, although a little less so than evangelicals. I guess it's because he seems so intelligent that it's disappointing he needs to use the excuse of religion in order to do good things for other people. Unfortunately, the "good things" eventually comes down to forcing one's religious beliefs on other people and attempting to kill off the nonbelievers.

i agree with Jeanneee. even though it's totally insane, it's not necessarily a bad thing. it's better than the other religions that want to govern the masses with their beliefs, agree with them or not, or kill you if you don't submit to them.

i don't like any religion, but Tom Cruise doesn't seem like a bad guy at all. just a little crazy. but not Britney Spears crazy, which is much more dangerous.

i can't blame him anyway. i'd probably be even more insane then he is if i had his fortune and fame. i also probably would not have lived as long as he has or at least not look near as healthy. i would be living fast and hard and wouldn't let anything get in my way. so yeah, i agree with Jeanneee. Tom ain't such a bad guy if you look at it a little more objectively than you normally would.

I really don't see what all the hype surrounding Tom Cruise is about. I mean yeah he's a little weird and breathless about his religion, but it's not like Scientology is the worst thing out there. At least he's not freebase addict, or a rapist, nor is he getting drunk and crashing his car into people. He seems to be a good husband and father, and he's a good actor.

Not that I'd marry him or anything, God love Katie Holmes for being brave enough, but I just don't think he's such a bad guy. There's much weirder and more sinister people/things in Hollywood than a starry-eyed religious nut.

A must-read for anyone interested in reading about the alien god-king of Scientology.

The major difference between organize religions and scientology is that the beliefs of organized religions are free to everyone, and not made a secret, not even from nonbelievers and converts. To further your knowledge of scientology, you have to pay your local leaders. The secrecy and dishonesty are widely in contrast with most other major religions, who give out information freely on their beliefs.

Religion is whack when you really think about it. But hey, whatever you feel like paying for. Hell, you can pay me and I'll tell you there is a Heaven if it helps you sleep at night.

It's all the same end-point logic. Good people go to Heaven, bad people go to Hell. Only good members of your respective religion will get into Heaven, everyone else goes to hell. By that logic, let me quote the great Curtis Mayfield;

"If there's a Hell below, we're all gonna go."

People are too concerned with what happens when we die. They should be more concerned about what's going on while they are alive. Pierce the blinders, people.

Organized religion is for weak minded people who need to be a part of a group to define themselves. People should not be defined by who they hang out with, rather we should evaluate them based on how many black guys they have had sex with in the past week. In the case of Method's Mom, that would be 23.

In answering that question, Tom Cruise has introduced LOH technology to over 1 BILLION people on Earth. (1.037 billion, apparently.)

And that is only the first wave he has unleashed. Which is why the story of Tom Cruise - Scientologist - has only just begun."

Um.

Wow.

so what's the beliefs of scientology? i thought it was about science but apparently not.

there's a bunch of stuff about some great alien rave and thetas and you have to do so much to attain the correct level so you can transcend your earthly existence so that when the great alien lord thingy returns you won't be cast down or something. interesting stuff. mormonism also has some very interesting beginnings all started with the fraud named joseph smith. if you're ever bored and want to learn something read anything about either of these two religions.

It's hard for me to believe that a religion based on the belief that an alien anything of any sort will take over the world but scientology and mormonism continue growing at incredible rates.

I can't wait 'til the religious wars start....

OOOPS wait
