Blu-Ray rules on 1080p televisions. Don't let anyone bullshit you into thinking DVD & standard TV is cool anymore.
Anyway, if anyone is in the market for a HDTV LCD television... you must check out the Sony XBR4/5 series. These HDTV's kick all kinds of ass.
Anyone got COD4 on the PS3?

PolyAJ, is it REALLY so difficult to kill someone with a headshot with a machine gun? All you need to do is empty a chain at them from fairly close... Anyone who's played longer than 5 mins can counteract recoil.
Headshots are difficult at LONG range, which is why i've bound a mouse button to drop the mouse speed to roughly 5% of normal when sniping.

Hey, wait just a damn minute. You have digital camouflage, which means that you have to have at least 50 headshots with that weapon. You must play the game a lot to get 50 headshots with an LMG. Have you gone through Prestige Mode?

Are you one of those assholes that jumps across and lays down on the tin roofs? If so, an assault rifle like the G3 or M14 is a much better option. Especially using a silencer with the Bandolier Perk. Ambush is such a fun map.

I hate campers and camping...especially in free for all. But in team games it is nice to have a sniper in some of the maps. I think I only like 2 maps enough to do it myself with a little success.
Usually I use the M4 Carbine with a few different options depending on the map/game. As capture the flag there are some maps it is nice to have last stand for those few extra seconds to get that flag.
Generally, I'm a bastard and use martyrdom on most maps.
I'm starting to get down the grenades (when I first started I'd blind or myself 9 times out of 10, and I'd blow myself up way too often. Now I can throw them at folks on buildings and have them blow up as soon as they hit. No chance to run from that.
I wonder how Battlefield: Modern Combat is on the Xbox 360.... I love vehicles and COD4 has none. That is kind of lame.

Oh, that's with full graphic effects enabled (HDR, FSAA, Anisotropy etc) all maxed, and i've not found a game so far which doesn't hit below 80fps (unless i'm doing something stupid like spawning 100 grenades at once, or fighting 30 minotaurs).

You know last week one of our employees brothers was killed in a motorcycle accident. She was proper crying and distraught.
Of course it isn't the dying that scares me about motorbikes, it's the risk of proper crippling yourself. I mean you could be riding along quite sensibly in the road, come up to the lights and then kark it onto the floor. The bike lands on your knee and that's it; you can't run anymore.
No footy in the park with your son. HR hate you because you whine about climbing stairs because your team are all up there and we can't move your shitty desk. It is just a terrible thing to happen to someone who is younger than 40 years old.
Of course the risk is all part of the fun. What is the point of having a body if we cannot hopelessly ruin it in the pursuit of a good laugh?

However, it really is the best way to travel.
I get 1920x1200 out of my monitor, and it cost half what your TV did. I get digital freeview, and can stick a Blu-ray reader in my PC if I want high-def games.
Plus, I can use it for work!

A lot...and I mean A WHOLE lot...of things have to happen before this happens.
One must think of a global marketplace where high speed internet isn't available everywhere, people who actually like to own a physical copy of a movie they can play in any machine instead of re-downloading, internet speeds have to go up in the USA for better resolution (Apple TV isn't half bad and for TV shows it is real nice), etc.
CD's are still around with all the easily available downloads. Hell, even uncompressed CD audio is well less than one GB. Sales may be down, but I don't see anyone pushing them off the shelves.
What is nice about the PS3 is that it was going to use the Blu-Ray disc as a format for its game system regardless of the format war outcome. It worked to Sony's advantage, obviously.
I wish we had Japan's high speed internet. :cries:

Hockey, golf, football and movies absolutely rock on the hi-def channels. I just wish there were more of those.

I almost bought a 42" plasma last night. Anyone ever heard of ILO brand? All I know is that it's Walmart's house brand but all I've seen is consumer reviews and not a professional review. The only thing with 1080 is that it is only good for HD-DVD/Blue Ray and game systems. You won't see broadcast ratings for 1080i in at least 10 years. For right now, 720p is the best you can hope for and that's stretching it.
That being said, the TV was 720p and I held off buying it because it wasn't 1080i. I know, hypocritical but whatever.
Someone find me some information on ILO brand.

I cannot help but think a) good on ya for indulging yourself in your hobby (assuming you're not depriving yourself or your family of food or missing house payments or something), and b) you caould have spent that money on a decent used motorcycle and had fun in the actual real world (but then you'd have been indulging yourself in my hobby, and there's no reset button there).

Call of Duty 4 is ace. It's a shame there aren't more marine missions though.
In fact that's always the problem with Call of Duty games, it's all 'special forces' this and 'covert operation' that when all you really want is dozens of helicopters and people dying everywhere.

For all the possibility of graphical output, you're still playing on a poor simulation of reality.
Your television is so much more advanced than the game that it looks noticibly pixelated. You can say that it's my screen that makes the picture, of the picture look bad, but I've seen it before, and I'll see it again.
I'm just not impressed.

I wouldn't even have the PS3 except I needed a Blu-Ray disc player and that is the only way to go as far as I'm concerned. (When stand-alone players are much, much cheaper I would consider them.)
My next purchase is going to be an Onkyo TX-NR905 and some bad ass surround speakers I haven't yet determined.

You know how you could better spend your money? On some fucking drugs! Seriously, you don't even have to go for the hard stuff. Just get some high grade marijuana and smoke a lot of it. It feels great! I can completely assure you that it feels better than playing the greatest video game you've ever played. If you have the chance, find someone to have sex with while you're both high on the marijuana. It's so wonderful. It's the kind of feeling that makes you be thankful for the gift of life. If you can't find a sex partner, just jerk off. When you're high it's really not that much worse than sex.
Anyway, I hope you take my advice. BTW, on the "street" there are a lot of slang terms for marijuana. Keep this in mind when you're trying to buy some. Use a hip term like "weed" or "bud" so the dealer knows you aren't a narcotics officer. You should be able to buy a lot of great marijuana with the money you would've spent on video games, video game systems and high-def telescreens.

Yes. I'm working on Regular difficulty. I stopped playing to beat Heavenly Sword, though, which is a KICKASS game, if you must know. Unfortunately, a lot of PS3 games are only rated for 720p, which is more like a component connection.
I will be getting myself Assassin's Creed sooner or later. Here's my setup:
HDMI hookup on a 32" Sony Bravia on both a Playstation 3 and cablebox.
Component to DVD and Nintendo Wii.
Sadly, the Wii's component connection isn't much better than standard RCA.

I would never have gotten a ps3 other than the 60gb, can't believe the other ones didn't have baskwards compatability. Blue ray is looking like it's in the lead though

I have a friend that has 1080p on his tv for his ps3. He bought the tv specifically for his playstation. Unfortunately it still probably wasn't worth the $600 he paid for the system. Wii is too much fun for a lot less $ to go anywhere else.

I used to only do Unreal Tournament back in the day...oh, and Tribes. I usually get pwned, but I've come in damn close to 1st on many free for all games. (2nd place a few times). Those games always have a pretty high learning curve to realize where all the good spots are on the map. I've finally found a sweet sniper location.
