Nepal is a third world country bordering the north of India that has been plauged by recen years by civil unrest, maoist rebels and crippling un- or under-employment.
Still despite all this they have decide that the divine right of nobility is a silly way to run a govt, and without that as a basis for govt the office of King is a worthless and costly gesture.
As of today the former king has 14 days to vacate his former palace.

I am largely indifferent to the whole thing, but I guess the whole English heritage thing isn't entirely without merit.
Also I AM an elitist so I suppose it makes sense for me not to be anti-royal. There certainly doesn't seem to be anything glaringly wrong with the status quo so I guess it's kind of a non-issue.
I would like to mention to our man 'over there' that I've always got the impression that our friends 'over there' operate a psudo aristocracy vis-a-vis the old money dynastys of the Clintons, Kennedys and so on.

Nah, I actually really like the Royal family, now that I think about it. In an age where chavs rule the streets, junkies get methadone injections in Boots and knife crimes are reaching astronomical proportions, they are a throwback to a more civilised, dignified and noble time.

60p is nothing and I always watch the remembrance Sunday ceremonies, for my grandpa, and enjoy the Royals swanning about.
They'll never abdicate. For one thing, the ownership battles over their properties would be a legal quagmire since they are guardians of acres of land on behalf of the nation, not to mention the art collection. And its not as if they could just integrate into society and get on with it on a council estate in Reading is it?
