(So what if it's late? Stick it to The Man!)
I'm tired and my bag is heavy on my shoulder, but there are no seats left at the train station so I stand up and alternate my weight from one leg to the other. I'm careful not to look at any of the people sitting down, because they might see my resentment and feel uncomfortable. I look around me instead, casual and distant, as if I don't ache with tiredness. There is a five year old girl sitting on one of the seats. She wants to get off and run in circles but her mother is telling her to sit.
This is an ugly place, not because it's underground but because it's all white tile and stainless steel and industrial pipes running along the ceiling. It's clean and cold and ugly and new and I hate being forced to take the train. I am punished for not being able to afford gas by being crammed into a shaking tube with a hundred other people. They all smell.
There are three goth girls sitting on the floor to my left. I look at them, half-envious. I wish there was a secret handshake to let them know I used to be cool and sexy, too, before I got old. Kind of a "Once we were rebels" thing, sign and countersign. That'd be neat.
One of them takes a bubble wand out of her Nightmare Before Christmas backpack, and she blows a sudden and shocking stream of iridescent bubbles. They drift in front of grubby tiles and gleaming steel, drift up and away to burst silently in amongst the pipes.
And again. And again.
And now every child here is chasing them, and popping them, and laughing. It's so out of place down here that I can't look away.
I take the vacated seat of the five-year-old and watch bubbles until my train arrives.

HBTS, Ghola's posts puzzle me. They're tiny vignettes, usually, of some snapshot moment. They have no real conflict, no real resolution.
So I see this "write like ghola" thing and decide, hey, i might as well give it a shot. Maybe it's harder than it looks.

I think ghola uses 'and' a lot less, and doesn't like to pair up her adjectives so much. I'm the one who does that when I write, which is never.

I have to agree with HBTS.
The only question I have been asking myself about this whole WLG shit is 'why?'
Circle seems to have answered that point of this post.
Mostly I think it's people sucking up to someone purely because the Shlongmyster thinks she's cool.
Still, at least she doesn't get all bent out of shape over it.
