to add to what i was saying, that is also why sex sells. when you see a hot girl on a beer commercial, it activates your brain's reward system. specifically, i'm talking about the secretion of the dopamine chemical. so your brain is telling you that you want that now.

Just to clarify, my original response was edited by TTOM. I never called Bud pisswater and I know the difference between a lager and an ale. Method Mom jokes aside, I enjoyed Bud from time to time and thought their branding was incredible. Sadly, hidden101 is right in that it will be difficult to maintain their "Americana" image now that they are owned by Inbev. Look at what happened to Labatt Blue in Canada when Inbev bought out Labatt. It pretty much disappeared and lost most of it's market share to Bud, which Labatt/Inbev was brewing under license. It doesn't mean Inbev will try to replace Bud with Stella, but in time don't be surprised to see Bud lose some luster.
While most consumers don't care who owns the means of production that brought them their product, they are sensitive to changes in their brand. If there is a change in strategic direction at Bud, you may see a repeat of what happened to Labatt in Canada. For example, if some introverted Belgium CEO thinks that the "King of Beers" moniker is too aggressive and forces a softer marketing campaign (Stella style) on Bud brand managers, expect a consumer backlash. Think about how positively Dodge truck buyers reacted to those commercials of some German CEO on TV. Daimler-Chrysler wasn't such a good idea after all.
Then again, perhaps things will just stay the same. Bud will be bud. The St. Louis based management team will still make all the decisions. Consumers will still drink it. Method's Mom will still fuck 15 black guys each weekend. Hidden101 will still camwhore. And everything will be OK.

on your beer post- i live close to Three Floyds and go there to drink their fine beer often. i also used to drink Shakespeare Stout religiously. i've been wanting to visit the Two Brothers brewery since it's close also and i've been wanting to see the Fermi National Accelerator right next to it as well.
this is making me feel nostalgic. i used to go to Triumph in Princeton, across the street from the university. sometimes they brew a smoked beer that is just delicious and i wish i had one right now. but man was it a good time. and there was always hot Princeton girls in there that surprisingly didn't act like stuck up rich snobs. i highly recommend it to anyone that is in the area.

Apollo and Quint - Lager and Ale are brewing styles. Lager is brewed using bottom-fermenting yeast, optimally at at 40F or below. Ale is brewed using top-fermenting yeast at above 40F. Hence lagers largely originate in the colder mountainous regions of Europe while Ales come from the warmer lowlands. Today, lagers are largely brewed under refrigeration. I may well be a beer snob because the I don't drink the Bud, but I don't care if you do, go ahead. Let us assume that is not what matters, but rather foreign ownership. Inbev has said they will not be closing any domestic Bud breweries, so most workers (maybe not management) jobs will remain, and they are just a holding company that has not messed with the recipes or manufacture of Stella Artois or Becks which they also bought. And the shareholders made out. The marketing of Stella has really improved its market share since Inbev acquired them. So let it be.
I do love good American beer--the taste of craft beer, Boont amber ale, Fat Tire, Anchor Steam, Sierra, etc. And I love the homebrew I used to make (haven't in a while, though). I love good brew pubs, out here Marin Brewing Company, Pyramid, Triple Rock, Moylins.
I LOVE beer, and I provide a market for what they are selling.

A lager is a 'dead' beer that stores longer, the yeast settles to the bottom and is removed for bottling. Unlike an Ale.
That's the only qualification.

Budweiser is pretty lame, as is all American lager. Yes, I said lager, not beer. Beer is brown and comes from 'real' hops.
Tanglefoot is a decent beer, and on occasion I have been partial to a Bishop's Finger (google it, and stop laughing like an ass)
If you're gonna stick to the yellow fizzy stuff called LAGER (FYI, I'm with you on the Hoegaarden front, as it technically classifies as blonde beer) then check out Tyskie. It's Polish, and it's won fucking medals. MEDALS for fuck's sake. I didn't even realise there were medals for lager, but there is, and this stuff is the shit.
And it comes from Poland. And it doesn't even drive a taxi cab. Or rape nurses. If I was a can of Tyskie, I would drive a cab and rape a nurse just because I could, and I'd say "Well fuck you, because I'm Tyskie and I can do what the fuck I want, because I'm awesome".

DMD, i don't need a beer snob lesson. like i said, i've drank over 500 different kinds of beers and i happen to love beer very much. out of all the beer drinking i do, i drink AB products maybe 10% of the time. i don't think Budweiser is the best beer in the world at all because it's not. this is about what AB stands for and the meaning they have had in my life. this is about a great American tradition that is no more. this is about our slumping economy and the ability of inbev to be able to afford AB because of the weak US dollar. this is about the possible negative effects this may have on the region i grew up in and love. this is about a great American company that is now owned by a foreign one who is only going to care about the bottom line and will not care at all for any kind of American interests.

ForTheWin - Fat Tire is good beer to me. What makes beer 'good' ot 'great' is entirely subjective, of course. I just like that FG3 would choose it over other beers that are (in my opinion as well) lesser, hence the "<3".
I had a lot of Spaten Lager and Optimator last Thursday listening to blues at The Rathskeller in Indy even though they had Fat Tire available as well as my all time fave (in bottle): Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale.

I agree, it is good beer. It just seemed to be talked up a bit before I tried it.
I think there are some minor things that indicate a higher quality of taste in a beer, but then again, maybe that's just my taste.
Regardless, finding your favorite beer and drinking only that, is a ridiculous concept. I have a lot of "favorite" beers, but rarely even drink them because variety is good.

AB will always have a special place in my heart. i used to hang with Scarlett Busch, who i met through a friend of a friend, and often times joked with her about banging her for her billions. i hadn't yet learned the ways of the woman at the time so we remained friends.
ok, leave it to me to make this about pussy first. let me get on to the real point now. AB is a big part of where i'm from. they are involved in so many things i love, including baseball. Cardinal baseball to be exact. i'll never forget the old Busch stadium. the new one is cool though. it has a view of the Arch and the Millennium Hotel, where i banged Lisa's tight little snizz all night long.
AB also sponsors pretty much every sport you can think of, even gay shit like polo. also, that little contest called the OLYMPICS. not only that, they give so much back to the community with their charity work. i wonder if that will continue with inbev now... fuck it, i don't feel like talking about this anymore. i could write a lot about AB and the impact they have on so many people's lives. i could really only skim the surface. many friends of my family that work for AB are probably going to have to look for new jobs now. this sucks.

Alright, seriously, what's with this whole Fat Tire thing? I finally get out of DC for a few days, and got a chance to try it, and it's good, but it's not AMAZING. My major problem with Bud drinkers has always been that statement that is inevitably made about how its really good ice ice cold. When something is ice ice cold I can barely taste it, so in essence its best when you can barely taste it?

I'm not a foreign beer elitist though, Yuengling makes some lovely standard beers, Sam Adams can be good at times, as long as you stay away from the ones that taste like fruit, their Triple Boch is horrible though, why wouldn't you have a Guinness instead? It's like horrible pint of Guinness ice cold, which is bad on so many levels.

I have met a few beer snobs and they seem the same as a wine snob or scotch, tequila, vodka, or any other form of spirits. In the end if it gets you fucked up then I think it did it's job, who cares how it taste if you are going to slam enough to lose most of your senses after a few hard hours.
That being said, I do enjoy a good red wine drunk, they always seem to be the happiest drunks.
