War is clearly like sex. Russia had a decade old hard on and had to spew it death dealin jizz all over Georgia. I think the lesson is don't get friendly with the west if you are a former Soviet satellite.

that's because white people can relate to other white people. you have to spend a decent amount of time around other cultures to understand them. you can't just read about them, in my opinion.
once i spent time in Iraq and Afghanistan, i was able to understand their world better and i really felt for them for their plight. humans are humans and we all feel the same pain when terrible things happen. you can be a racist without hating other races. some people are just in that mindset where they don't feel the same towards other races that they do towards their own race, even though they don't actually have any kind of hate or contempt for other races. i see whites trying to talk about diversity and usually they just mean "we gotta have some black, brown, and yellow people around and that will make the world a better place" but they often don't "get it". they don't REALLY understand diversity. in recent years i've come to embrace diversity because i've been traveling and spending time around other cultures and i enjoy learning about other cultures and it's enriched my life greatly. if i would have stayed at home and just kept hanging around just white people, i wouldn't "get it" either.

Thus far, I think I'm with the Russians, albeit with some reserve as I think they are going too far. They certainly stepped in to protect either South Ossetians (sp?) or Russians, depending on your perspective. The Georgians sound like they've been told they'll be supported by the Americans and the Russians have decided to test this.

We're supposed to be very close allies of Georgia, we gave them weapons and trained their military, they fought for us in Iraq. Our relationship with them is what made their President confident/crazy enough to try to take back all four of the regions they lost. Basically, they seem to have thought that if they got into any real trouble, we would come over and bail them out, which obviously we will not do.
So, to Georgia, and probably Russia too, we are going to be the bad guys. Both sides will blame us for precipitating the conflict, and Georgia will simply feel betrayed that we're not going to clean up their mess.
There's a supposed cease fire as of right now, but nothing has actually been signed, and Georgia claims that there have been more attacks even after Medvedev supposedly called off the military strike.

Russia accused Georgia of attempting ethnic cleansing and invaded South Ossetia to support the rebels. Since then, Russia has invaded Georgia proper and might be fixed on collapsing the Georgian government for a regime change.

South Ossetia is a province filled with mostly South Ossetians, not ethnic russians. If that were the case they never would have been allowed out of the Soviet Union. In the past couple years Russia has started giving them russian passports to back up the claim that they are supporting "russians".
You also skipped how Russia had been flying in georgian airspace and shooting down their aircraft in recent months, but other than that pretty accurate.

Russia of course. You can't go blazing off into war with tanks and shit without telling the UN first. Even if you ignore them it is at least considered "the done thing". Even then it is traditional to preceed the military action with a thorough bombardment of harsh language.
Besides, we've got real estate in Georgia that the Russians fired 50 missiles at. That is very not cool.

The Bush administration supports Georgia, especially since they have the third highest amount of troops in Iraq (well, up until last week, at least). Georgia wants to have close ties to the US. Russian papers are spreading a lot of propaganda, but they don't have the army that they think they have. Generaly this war is bad all around though.

Georgia has been fighting rebels in South Ossetia, a province filled with mostly ethnic Russians. Russia accused Georgia of attempting ethnic cleansing and invaded South Ossetia to support the rebels. Since then, Russia has invaded Georgia proper and might be fixed on collapsing the Georgian government for a regime change.

The first picture is the most effective to me.
A Georgian is driving a car an American would drive past a war zone engulfed in flame. The sight wouldn't be out of place in California. These are normal people just like us who are caught up in something far beyond their control and with little means to escape.
