One thing to remember about the field of Psychology is, you don't get to the really interesting stuff until grad school. Most people base their judgement of the field off of Pop Psychologists like Dr. Phil and remembering their own Psych 101 class.
They put 2 + 2 together and come up with the notion that psychology is a field of assholes who took the easy way out.
True, there are much harder fields to study, but during your first semester of grad school psych, you find out it isn't that much of a cake walk.
During my first semester of grad school, my Abnormal Psych professor expected all of us to memorize the entire DSM-IV-R. She would stop lecturing and randomly pick someone to stand up and recite the diagnostic criteria of whatever mental disorder she chose along with any other relevant information concerning it.
If you didn't get it right, you were humiliated in front of your peers (who were secretly thanking their lucky stars it wasn't them who was picked).
There was no such thing as a "quick paper." All my papers were a minimun of 20 pages. Usually 3 papers of this length per class x however many classes I took.
For Biopsychology, we had to learn brain physiology and chemistry. I held an actual (perserved) human brain in my hands.

When you take in context the original picture and all that it implies, you feel both pity and annoyance at Jay Greening.
Pity because you knew that he lived for this sort of thing. I'm willing to bet that this picture was his idea. The rest of the pic's members were probably sitting close by, talking about this and that, just passing time. A 'hey, let's take a picture of us looking down over this camera' was probably the last thing on their minds. Then along came Greening who plopped himself down, tried to join in the conversations, and at failing that, whipped out a camera and gathered them over the camera and snapped it. The two other men have a look of reluctance about them. Crystle looked like she was just being nice, which is her way. Greening has that squinty eyed, fat man with a double cheeseburger, self satisfied, moonish smile on his face. He went back home and showed coworkers the pictures 'proving' that he is a popular, life of the party kind of guy. They had no choice but to believe him because you know damn well that he didn't show them the original post (and the comments).
You also feel annoyance because of the above stated sentiments.
Wow. I'm a bitch.
But am I correct?
