I spent the last few weeks, for the most part, in my garage. Closed windows and blinds keep the poisonous sunlight out. Rows of skeletons hang upside down from the ceiling, the stark remains of my once lovely bitches. The aroma inside is overpowering, a little like an alfalfa-filled barn only sweeter. My reloading bench is empty of its usual press and dies, boxes of bullets and gunpowder, all cleared away to make room for the final act of this year's project.

A can of WD40, nearly empty now, stands ready by the sink, the best thing I've found to remove the sticky, pungent resin which coats my fingers day after day. My dick as well, to a lesser degree, suffers this obstinate nectar; I've yet to perfect the art of touchless urination. Even my nostrils share this fate. Who in the dry heat of a California autumn can go hours on end without succumbing to the urge to pick one's nose? Not me, as the dark green smear beneath my aquiline proboscis attests.

"The Wall" has just finished playing on my ghetto blaster for the dozenth time. My fingers are too sticky to risk replacing the CD, but I can't stand listening to it again. With my pinky (my least contaminated finger), I slide the selector switch over to the radio and listen to the news for a while. A body was found in the street in front of a local elementary school. School has been cancelled for the day. The announcer urges parents to keep their kids home if they attend this school, or to pick them up if they're already there. The school will reopen tomorrow with Crisis Counselors on standby.

What the fuck, over? School cancelled? Crisis Counselors? Because some drunk got run over in a crosswalk overnight? What kind of emo fags do they think our kids are? I reach for the special pile of buds, the little ones which weren't quite good enough to preserve in a Mason jar but too good to toss in the shake bin, wondering if maybe our kids really have become so pussified that a glimpse of a corpse might traumatize them. It seems impossible, not with all the violent video games and movies around today. They should be inured to death and destruction. And yet, there it is: school cancelled and Crisis Counselors called out to protect the fragile psyches of our poor, vulnerable little tykes. Resisting the urge to retch, I suck down yet another bong hit.

In the resulting glow of comprehension, it strikes me that this news story exemplifies the downfall of western civilization. We are victims of our own success. We've had it too easy for too long. Kids in other countries experience war first hand every day, but our kids can't handle one little pedestrian fatality. We've become a bunch of needy pussies, unable to cope with the slightest challenge on our own, looking tearfully to the government to hold our hands and make everything better. How fitting, then, that Barak Obama will win America's upcoming election!

No, that's just the dope talking. Obama isn't going to win--McCain is going to lose. There's a difference. Poor McCain. He's not such a bad guy. Shit, he survived years of torture in a gook POW camp. He's no pussy.

He is, however, a Republican. And after eight years of Republican fuck-ups and hypocrisy, the Gipper himself couldn't win running as a Republican. And that's good. It's right. The Republicans deserve to lose this election, and the next one as well, although they probably won't lose the next one because by then the Democrats will have fucked things up so badly everyone will have forgotten how badly the Republicans fucked up. What a racket this two party system is.

The Republicans need to get the message that they have to walk the walk. They can't just talk the talk. How can you claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility and then run the debt up higher than ever? How can you claim to be the party of sound foreign policy and then start a disastrous war with some country that posed no threat whatsoever to our national security? How can you claim to be the party of less government and then increase the size of government by 40% in eight years? The hypocrisy is mind boggling.

A neighbor of mine showed me a neat trick this year, a way of extracting hash oil from shake through the process of supercritical fluid extraction. First you grind your shake up into a fine powder using a blender. Then you pour it into a PVC cylinder. It's sort of like making a pipe bomb only one of the end caps has small holes drilled in it, with a coffee filter to keep the shake from pouring out. A single hole drilled in the other end cap allows the injection of butane from one of those canisters they sell for refilling lighters. The butane soaks the powdered shake and then drains through the coffee filter into a Pyrex bowl, taking all the good shit with it. After a few minutes, the butane evaporates and you're left with a small amount of something that looks and feels like thick honey but is ten times stickier and much better for your brain.

I guess I'll vote for the other nigger, just to prove I'm no racist.

Oh man I love trimming time! - Sticky fingers for weeks on end.
We've not grown for about 18 months, since we got raided with 60 cuttings in the tanks. (Indoor NFT) We had a couple of awesome crops and I've always loved hand trimming the girls.

Better than WD40 is the natural grease in your hair, rub your hands through your hair and the sticky is gone! - my head's shaved, hairs like 2mm, but it still works.

We used tolisted to DJ shadow - Product placement on repeat in a caravan full to the brinm with drying bud. - The good old days.

Regarding the movement from inside to outside, yeah, it definately fucks up the light cycle. My partner and I tried the same this year, and ended up with most of the transplants blooming far too early. He transplanted another of the AK-48's around mid June-July though, and it surprisingly did better than the indoor versions.

Also, which company do you use? I'd been using Dr. Chronic, but they're pretty damn pricey. The UK return address helps with security though.

Around here most people started smoking SPICE since it's not yet marked as illegal substance.
A friend of mine told me he really was blasted after smoking a small pipe. I might have a go with it.

On this subject I read someone calling it BHO, Butane Honey Oil.

"School cancelled? Crisis Counselors?"

Would the kids at the school be freaked out if there wasn't anybody around to tell them they should be freaked out?

i've always grown indoors, from both clones and seed, with good success.

cloning is easy and speeds up turn-around, so that was what we stuck with for the longest time.

last time around we were in the process of moving and carting clones around wasn't really an option, so let the plants do their thing and didn't bother cutting clones. now, locating a clone has proven to be an effort and i have no connections at all for good seedstock.

something will turn up eventually, i suppose.

thing is, it's not even for me. i don't smoke at all for the last 7 or 8 years. that's my wife's end of things. i just like the gardening.

I hear you. The gardening has turned out to be a lot more fun than I thought it would be--almost as fun as enjoying the finished product. I wish I could help you out with the seeds, but if you're worried about having them mailed to you you're pretty much stuck. Maybe you could have them mailed to someone else who's not so concerned? I'd say the risk is probably minimal, but still--better safe than sorry.

That's a nice method to isolate the oil, thanks!
I'll try it sometime.

I was blown away at how easy it is. A couple of people on this thread suggested using ether, instead. But I looked into that and I'm told ether is a controlled substance, and I'm not sure I'd trust the purity of ether sold as starting fluid. I'm pretty sure butane sold for lighters has to meet a higher standard of purity since it's used to light something you ingest.

Here's a video of the process: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8152812863374273882

do you use clones, or start from seed? i...err, my friend can't seem to get a clone right now to save his life. there are plenty of reputable seed companies overseas, but he is loathe to have something shipped to his home as that would be the growing site as well.

---------

I usually start with seeds. Half the fun is creating new hybrids and trying to improve the genetic quality of my strains from one year to the next. (http://www.ubersite.com/m/118385) This year I also grew a couple of clones from the plant of a friend (who got it as a young clone from the local Cannabis Club, a strain called "Sour Diesel"), but they didn't work out so well. Good quality, but they didn't grow very much and I didn't get much quantity. I think moving from inside to outside somehow fucked up the photoperiod and they started to flower in April. I don't think I'll try clones again, not for growing outside. Anyway, it's fun to watch the seedlings sprout. Getting the right seeds or the right clones makes all the difference, though. Don't (let your friend) bother with unknown quantities there.

keyes?

no no no no no no no

keyes had at the very least an indirect hand in putting obama where he is today. see: http://www.ubersite.com/m/117595#2741324

had illinois repubs stuck with jack ryan, the obama fire would not have been as bright as it became leading up to his 2004 speech and subsequent announcement of candidacy. would it have changed where we are today? maybe not. but maybe so.

either way, give me obama over mccain, palin, huckabee, romney, whatever republican capable of running at the office any day.

one of keyes big things in his bid for illinois senate was a huge black chevy truck with a flatbed trailer with two giant plastic recreations of the mythical Ten Commandments tablets and a loudspeaker blaring messages of morality.

hahahahaha

moving on:

Use ether, butane wil not evaporate fully and will leave a taste in your hash. Also use a coffee grinder instead of a blender, you'll get better results.

I'd also reccomend doing the filtration step 2x, as you'll get a more pure, and better tasting product, albeit less by mass.

What a racket this two party system is.

Also, Butane? Really? I guess as long as it evaporated it would work, but why not just use Starting Fluid (ether) instead, I would think it would get more results.

Some university just put out a study saying sending out counselors for every incident that happens at/around a school or to someone going to a school creates hysteria and trauma where there actually was none before.

The school loser gets murdered, grief counselors are called in, the the next thing you know, you've got hysterical 15 year old girls crying, the same ones who teased the hell out of her every day.

I'll post the link if I find it again.
