In my opinion, 2005 was fairly disapointing year for cinema. I have a good feeling that 2006 will be a great bounceback year for movies...
Here are the films I'm looking forward to seeing in 06 thusfar:
Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny: http://imdb.com/title/tt0365830/combined
27 October 2006
Tenacious D gets a movie!? Sweet! Liam Lynch (sifyl and Ollie) helms. Expect cool cameos...some new songs, hopefully...and, yes, Ronnie James Dio. John C. Reilly also returns as Sasquatch! Boo-yA!
Talladega Nights (working title):
http://imdb.com/title/tt0415306/combined
4 August 2006
Will Ferrell and Adam McKay join forces again for a NASCAR comedy. When I first saw Anchorman, i wasn't impressed, but upon multiple viewings its creeping up to become one of my favorite comedies. Sascha Baron Cohen (Ali G) as the European arch-rival just makes me even more excited...plus I hear Jack McBrayer has a good part. Nice!
Lady in the Water
http://imdb.com/title/tt0452637/combined
21 July 2006
M. Night Shyamalan's new thriller starring Paul Giammatti. I was disapointed with The Village but I enjoyed all the other M. Night films. My gut tells me to have faith in this one.
Borat
http://imdb.com/title/tt0443453/combined
possible 2006 release.
Sacha Baron Cohen...Borat...The Film... (splooooge)
The Pink Panther
http://imdb.com/title/tt0383216/combined
10 February 2006
A prequel? When I heard about this movie, I gagged. Blasphemy. Why try to copy what peter Sellers did perfectly? But...when i saw the trailer, I actually laughed, and I rarely laugh at trailers. Despite its February release date (the month you drop the shit off in theaters), I'm kinda excited. This looks to be the first Steve Martin film I'm looking forward to seeing in a long while (1992's Leap of Faith), and its always nice to see jean Reno working.
Grind House
http://imdb.com/title/tt0462322/combined
22 September 2006
Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, each write and direct a 60 min horror film and they'll be released as a double feature. Tarnatino does "Death Proof" and Rodriguez does "Planet Terror". sounds like a fun way to do a movie.
Feast
http://imdb.com/title/tt0426459/combined
will it ever be released?
The Project Greenlight Horror film. It debuted ( i think ) at some film festivals in the fall...haven't heard much about it...but the Greenlight series was a fun watch this season and it accomplished its goal of getting me excited to see its final product.
Clerks 2
http://imdb.com/title/tt0424345/combined
August 2006
A sequel to Clerks? Sounds scary/interesting. Shot in Color...Kevin Smith returns to what he does best, the New Jersey comedy. I'll see it...i need to wash the taste of jersey Girl from my mouth. Kevin Smith says its his favorite movie that he's made (of course it is)
The Fountain
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0414993/combined
2006...sometime...
can Darren Aronofsky top Requiem for a Dream! A tough task but I have faith. "Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, The Fountain is a story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world." Hugh jackman stars. trailer here, try not to be intrigued: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefountain/medium.html
I know I'm missing a whole bunch...but this is to just wet the whistle.
What movies are you excited about?

HOW COULD I FORGET THIS ONE!?!?!
For Your Consideration
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0470765/combined
22 September 2006
HOLY SHIT! Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy team up for another Mockumentary (Waiting for Guffman, Best in SHow, Mighty Wind) this time They take on the movie business. The movie stretches from the preproductionof an independant feature up until its unworthy push for an academy award. Sounds hilarious! and get this...it stars RICKY "BBC's THE OFFICE" Gervais as one of the leads and Jim fomr NBCs the office will also star.
wh i forgoet this on my list...i dunno. This film was he inspiration for the above post actually!

Will Zone,
I can finally agree with you on something. Just kidding, I agree with you many times, despite my often fluctuating hatred for you. It's not all angst and hate here, though.
Sacha Baron Cohen. Is. Make. A. Borat. Movie?
That man is truly a comedic genius. The first time I saw an Ali G episode on HBO I thought it was real - that's how well he pulls off his characters. I though, "This guy is unbelievable, who the hell would even do this shit?" And then I watched more of the episode and decided it had to be fake. Fake, but hilarious.
Borat is by far his most hilarious character. Hell, Kazakhstan itself is trying to sue him for it. Anyway, I can't wait for this movie now.
Thanks for informing me of it!

Clerks 2? Yeah, I'll end up watching it. But, Silent Hill? I despise videogame movies, but the Silent Hill series is by far my favorite videogame series. So long as they don't take huge strides to fuck it up, I'll probably enjoy that too.

Should have written more...
SILENT HILL (April 2006) is an adaption of the video game by Konami. I despise game-movies, but from what I've seen so far, it looks like it's shaping-up to be a good horror flick.
NIGHT WATCH (release date is February 17th, 2006): I actually own this film, but I'm waiting to see what the International cut will look like. Released in Russia back in 2004, Night Watch, the first part in a trilogy of fantasy films (followed by Day Watch, and supposedly Dusk/Twilight Watch), is based on a novel by Russian sci-fi/fantasy writer Sergei Lukyanenko. The reviews are mixed (mostly bad), but I don't really give a shit.
Yeah, I've been looking forward to CLERKS 2 for ages. Are they still calling it "The Passion of the Clerks"? I hope not.

Also, Cars, the DaVinci Code, V for Vendetta, MI: 3, and of course, Basic Instinct 2.
Okay, not so much Basic Instinct 2.

WHAT ABOUT FUCKING HALO??!!
ITS BEING MADE BY THE LORD OF THE RINGS DIRECTOR!!
------------
Produced by. Big difference. They don't have a director yet, or even a leading part. Know why? Because it hasn't been written yet. Additionally, it's not slated to come out until 2007, which will probably be more like 2008, because his next movie "The Lovely Bones" is in pre-prod and set for release in 2007. Aside from that... why would you want to watch hollywood ruin yet another video game by turning it into a movie? Didn't you get your fill off Doom?
I'm also very interested in Lady in the Water. You know it's based on a bedtime story he made up for his kids, right?
