If anyone has the slightest idea what this spider could possibly be, I'd like to know. She's living in my backyard. I've also seen ones that look like her, but are orangey red. Oh, and everyone be happy that I have a digital camera now.
On another note, I officially get to LA at 9:45 am or so on the 11th June. I then fly out to Chicago, then another short flight to Kalamazoo. Hurray for me!!!

Mike, where's Syracuse?
Oh and she's a garden orb weaver I think. She's losing her colour though, not as bright yellow as she was. Maybe that means she's close to laying her eggs.

It's some sort of orbweaver.
This is the first thing I thought as well. Orb Weavers are the coolest spiders ever.
Come to Syracuse.

I'll be making a day trip to Chicago at some point I'm sure. I get days off from camp too I think. And some nights off. Although technically because of your stupid laws I'm not old enough to drink there. Lucky I don't drink anyway really.

I'm flying to Kalamazoo because the summer camp I will be working at is near there. I'll be working there for 9 weeks, and then travelling around. I'm definately going to New York, California somewhere, and probably other places too. Yay!

haha, well, in my little burg we breed outside out own families.
i think "the hills have eyes" was based on kalamazoo.
--------------------------------------
Inbreeding is all relative, brother.
Both my parents AND my grandparents are related. However, around here we gauge retardidity on a level of twitches per hour.
And I only have 3.
Princeton here I come!

But I don't LIVE in Kalamafuckingzoo.
Then, catch the connection to Hilton Head Island and I'll be plugging it in you in no time at all.
Oh, and the spider is accurately scientifically identified as "arachnid cunnilingus".

Is there something very specific in Kalamazoo? Don't you have to take a charter plane from Detroit to get there or something? Just come to NYC--we're friendly folk.

perhaps it is just the angle or the extreme close-up by which you took this shot, but that spidey looks like it could eat a kangaroo. No seriously, it looks freaking huge.
Haha, you have to fly into LA.
My flatmate's cat eats our resident spiders, yum.

I'm pretty sure that the "golden" part refers to the web not actually the spider.
It's a broad grouping.

I'm not going to kill her. She's pretty. Even though I hate spiders. I thought orb weaver too, but the pics I saw of a golden orb weaver look nothing like her.
I'm not going to be in LA long when I first get there, my flight to Kalamazoo leaves at 2pm. But, I will be back there, as my flight home is from LA, to give myself the excuse to sightsee.

It's some sort of orbweaver.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was a golden garden orbweaver.
4 spots on it's back, like on a dice.
Non-venomous.
Female.
About 1 year old.
Called Sharon.

I have another picture too, where you can see it's back properly. There are four little dots on it for some reason...
But of course, I'm so pathetic I can't figure out how to get more than one image into paint. I suck.

<insert vulgar, creepy and rather pathetic comment here>
---------------
That's an Australian Soul-Sucking Spider. It's pale in color compared to it's relatives in the area because it has not yet supped it's fill of the very life of animals and children. Poke it and see.
If you bring that thing to LA, the Governor of Calipornia (sic) will have to annihilate it, you, everyone on the plane, and a couple square miles of high-value real estate to prevent it from trying out for 'Arachniphobia 2: Electric Boogaloo", becoming famous, and making uninformed political statements from the stage on Oscar night.
Anything to help, Berty.

Enjoy your holiday.
I still remember the incident about ubercon Sydney and the... lack of organisation. That's not to say I hold grudges; I just don't forget things.
Why did we stop talking?
